Midwest Movement Collective plans to bring together different styles of dance under one roof.
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – Two entrepreneurs from Grand Rapids are getting ready to open a brand new dance studio that will bring together different styles of movement under one roof – but they need the community to do it.
Paige Gabert and Hannah Mico are co-owners of the Midwest Movement Collective.
Space is mostly an empty shell now, but that should change very soon.
The longtime artists wanted to create a business that would offer beginner to advanced level classes in different types of dance such as aerial dance, pole, contemporary, ballroom dance, and ballet.
Finding the right space has been a challenge, and now the duo are organizing a fundraiser to help them get the studio off the ground.
“We hope this space becomes a place where people can come and be active in a fun way without feeling like they already have to have some sort of strength or ability to dance.” We want people to come here, have fun and meet other members of their community, ”said Gabert.
The fundraiser takes place Saturday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 1140 Monroe Ave NW.
Construction of the space is expected to begin in December, with hopes of opening the studio in January.
