Several people were injured over the weekend in a shooting at a dance studio in Columbia, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
Nine people were injured by gunshots at The Vault, which is located at 6908 Two Notch Rd., according to the Sheriff’s Department. It’s in the Dentsville area, near Columbia Place Mall and approximately one mile from Exit 74 on Interstate 20.
At around 1 a.m. Sunday, deputies said they responded to a call for gunfire at the Columbia business.
Deputies found several people who had been shot and the victims were taken to an area hospital, according to the sheriff’s department. Deputies said they had also received information from hospitals that other victims had arrived on their own.
No further information on the victims’ conditions was available.
There was no word on a shooter or shooters, and no information on the motive for the shots was available. The shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s department.

According to their Facebook page, The Vault is a studio that houses the N-Full Effect dance team. Photos on the Facebook page show that girls are members of the dance team.
The Vault’s motto is “The Safe Place For Diamonds”, according to the Facebook page.
The sheriff’s department did not say whether children were involved in the shooting.
